Michael King is the Director of the Trinity Impact Evaluation Research Centre (TIME) and Assistant Professor of Economics at Trinity College, University of Dublin. Michael’s areas of research include financial inclusion and banking, social and consumer protection, and household dynamics with a focus on behavioural and experimental economics. Michael is currently principal Investigator on fifteen research projects across 10 countries, having raised €7 million in research funding in the last 10 years. Michael has worked as a consultant for the World Bank, the OECD, the Overseas Development Institute (ODI), Rabo Development, the European Centre for Development Policy Management (ECDPM) and various governments across Europe.

Michael holds a BA and PhD in Economics from Trinity College, University of Dublin and an Masters in Public Administration in International Development (MPA/ID) from Harvard University. Between 2007 and 2012, Michael held the position of Senior Research Officer at the Institute for International Integration Studies (IIIS) at Trinity College Dublin. He previously worked as an economist with Forfás and the National Competitiveness Council in Dublin. Michael retains research interests in Policy Coherence for Development (PCD) and national competitiveness.

Between 2001-2004 Michael founded and led a Dublin based international development agency that supported schools in Africa, India and Ireland and pioneered the development of global citizenship programmes in Ireland. In 2004 Michael was awarded the O’Reilly Foundation Scholarship, the Fulbright Scholarship and the John F Kennedy Scholarship.
